I don't really own a plant until it's on my list here on this site. Of course!

I like to note where (or from whom, as a trade or for-postage) and when I got a plant in the comment box which entails adding the plant to list, then go to list, find it and 2nd time, edit it. If the box for adding a comment would come up while adding a plant to list, that would be so awesome!

It would also be helpful to be able to add private comments to plants, like the one I mention above, and things like ideas that I have for various plants that I don't want to forget, and notes about where they are in the yard - things that are irrelevant to anyone but me, and then to be able to add whatever public comments in a separate box.

I agree that having the comment pop up when adding a plant would be lovely. I use My List as a mini-database of my personal plants: when acquired, source, where sited, care info, etc. Nothing anyone else particularly cares about but not secret information either so I don't care if it is public or not. Seems having two comment sections (public and private) might add an unnecessary layer.

It might, I only know what I am doing & would like to do with "my" list. I used to keep an Excel spreadsheet, and started on an Access database at one point, but haven't kept it updated or used it much at all since I've been using a personal list on this site.
