The Hummingbirds Are Gone Now

It always makes me a little melancholy when I realize that the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have left here on their annual fall migration to southern Mexico, Central America, and even as far away as South America.

I will no longer use that derogatory adjective anymore. How those same hummingbirds can come back to our house every year, only the original family or offsprings of the original family, I will never know??? And should I fail to have their feeder out, the Male who always arrives first flies right up to the patio door, staring right in my face saying: "What's going on- I fly hundreds of miles to get here, and nothing to eat"?? But I notice that the Mother and the Baby always hang around late in the Summer, because, Father, having had "a piece of tail" so to speak, (surely I can say that in this forum) has disappeared! Gives the rest of us Males a bad reputation. LOL
