It is no more. It is defunct. It has met its maker. It is pushing up the daisies. It is bereft of life. It is as dead as the ex-parrot.

I know some of you like to keep up with major changes in botanical names. I've just finished editing all of our Pennisetum entries to reflect the reclassification of all the Pennisetum species as species of the Cenchrus genus.

Who knows. It might be resurrected again in future (as has seemingly occurred with a few Orchid genera, whilst many others have been merged).

If that happens, we'll move them back to Pennisetum. Our work is never done.

Indeed. I'm expecting that as more and more plants have their genetics mapped and recorded, though, that the rate of reclassification will slowly drop.
