Since many of us are starting seeds or soon will be, I have a request. More of a hope, actually. Crossing Fingers!

Our NGA database has tons of photos of pretty flowers but not too many images of the seeds, the cotyledons, the first true leaves, etc. as the plants are growing.

Hoping that folks take a few minutes to take photos of these early stages of plant growth and add them to the database. Here is a good example that was recently added by @janinilulu.

Great suggestion. Another good thing to concentrate on is newly emerging perennials, good reference for folks so they don't yard them out as weeds.

Plus, another reason to put those photo categories to better use. Tabbing them was a good suggestion from someone quite a long time ago. Hopefully that is working its way up the 'to do' list. I often want to see something other than the (beautiful) blooms but end up scrolling through piles of almost identical bloom photos to get to what I'm looking for (leaf, stem, emerging, etc.)

*Blush* I'm a bit old and slow. Do we have the ability to add tabs? If yes, can you kindly point me in a direction so I can learn to do this? Thank You!

Not that I know of. It was a suggestion from someone - have tabs for each gallery of photos (blooms, leaves, whole plant, etc.) so one can quickly go to what they might be interested in. Since they are already categorized, I'm hoping this is something that will happen sooner or later.

You can already do this on a somewhat grand scale by going to this page and choosing the appropriate gallery and time frame ("Forever" is the best time frame for this purpose).

https://garden.org/apps/plant_...

I say it's on a grand scale because it will show you all of the "Emerging Growth" photos, regardless of genus, so it will take some time and effort if you're looking for a specific plant.

Thanks Zuzu, that really IS on the grand scale. I'm hoping at some point each plant will have their galleries somehow sorted by either tabbing or some other creative means. One could almost just have three choices: whole plant, bloom, everything else. Perhaps recent efforts to add photos other than single blooms will bring this issue back to the forefront.
