I love how this not only has beautiful composition, but it also displays all parts of the plant to a greater or lesser degree without being just a whole-plant picture. Focus is on the beautiful flower, but I can also see the shape of the leaves, the stems, and a tiny bit of the growth habit. Well done! Nice picture.

Thank you, Dnd, for your keen observation and kind comments.

I love the look of this plant, with all the heads and necks pointing in the same direction, too. This was taken just as the early morning sun was streaking through.

How neat that they all have the same way! It must be related to the direction that the most sun comes from. Thanks for sharing!

I planted these on a corner of my garden and they are beautiful and long-lasting. Within two years, I was required to dig a circle around the outer edge, turn up and break up the soil that I dug up and hand-remove all of the spreading root system. It is EXTREMELY invasive. I kept a small bunch of the rooting leaders and moved them to the back of my property near the perimeter fence which proved NOT to be a good idea as these underground spreaders in now under the fence and growing on the neighbors property. I would advise planting them within a section of ground that you have provided some sort of non-penetrating fabric that is buried to a depth of at least four inches, ideally six inches.

DEDON - that's good info! You should write that in the database so that people interested in the plant will be forewarned of its invasive properties. (...and seeing what zone you are in may provide useful info, too.)

Thanks for mentioning that DEDON.

Where I planted mine, was in between the grapes, that had a one foot deep metal edging all around the 12 foot long, 3 to 4 foot wide bed. I used doubled over aluminum sheets that had been used for printing the local Newspaper - this was in the 1980's to the early 1990's, when these were still available. (I was told that the ink used was a soy, vegetable based ink that was not harmful to plants.) This barrier kept the weeds out and the Lysimachia clethroides roots in. Occasionally, I took excess roots out, for the Garden Club plant sales.
Thumb of 2018-03-12/HemNorth/c7818e The Lysimachia is contained in the area at the back of the Arbour, close to the barn. There were two Interlaken grapes and one Riesling grape in this bed on the left side of the framework. They provided a canopy over the top of the Arbour which provided shade for the Lysimachia, where they thrived.
