I have some Baltimore Orioles here, maybe some Orchard Orioles. They seem to love suet and I recently hung some cut oranges for them to eat & they are eating them. Now I'm thinking about summer and I know I could do oriole feeders with syrup but it gets so hot here & I already do 3 hummer feeders so it could get a bit much to keep up with oriole syrup & feeders. So I'm wondering about jelly. For those of you who have done jelly, I would love to hear your experiences. How do you put it out, in what? How high? Do ants tend to get to it? What about flies & gnats? Do you have to put out new every day?

I've never heard of oriole syrup...or do you mean water & sugar together? I've only had Baltimore Orioles around during one early fall and I gave them a regular nectar feeder away from the hummingbird ones. Also gave them orange halves and a little jelly. But they didn't stay very long, probably a week or so. Why not try the jelly and see how it goes? My Scott's Orioles just seem to like the regular nectar from a nectar feeder with a port large enough for their beaks. They haven't shown an interest in anything else I tried.

Thanks Linda. I know one or more of these Baltimore's have been around since October. They really like the mealworm suet & then I got out some 10" S hooks for hanging planters & cut an orange in 1/2 & stuck the orange half on one end & they have been going bananas over those. Just can't seem to get enough of the oranges! Today, I put grape jam in 1 of the cleaned out orange halves. No takers on it yet but I'm still waiting. We'll see. I thought I would try that before I go to the trouble of rigging up a jelly bowl for them.
Yes, I was talking about sugar & water nectar in an oriole feeder.
