Hi PNW Gardeners:

I have been planting my sisters hanging baskets for a few years on Mothers day for her. She loves them but does not know an annual from a perennial and so on. She decided to surprise me this year and buy me a bunch of planter and basket plants before Mothers day. So she brought me 3 geraniums, a bunch of lobelia, alyssum, and two bacopa. And it's too early!!!!

I read hanging baskets tolerate the cold better than planters, and can go out earlier, but how much earlier.

For now, I am bringing the plants in the garage every night. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for planting any annuals before Mothers day here in our climate. Of course I would love to start earlier, but have gambled and lost more than once. Any annuals you can set out earlier?
