I have been adding to my hosta collection and I am putting it in Misc. I would think there would be a division for hosta. We have many people that collect it.
Thanks,
Teresa

Hi Teresa,

Do you mean your plant list categories?

You can add your own categories for your plant list here (you need to be logged in, of course):
https://garden.org/lists/manag...

If this isn't what you mean, can you explain where you are selecting "Misc"?

Thank you, just after I posted I went back and saw manage. Any way to move several at a time? Working on editing to the new Hosta now.

Not that I am aware of, I'm afraid.

@Dave, is there a feature to add multiple plant list entries to a category?

Afraid not. If you have more than 50 to move, then I will move them for you.

Another thing to consider is that the plant list will be alphabetical by botanical name, so all the hostas will be together anyway. When you open your list, you can simply search for 'hosta' and you will go to the first hosta in your list. I use the categories to define the type of plant (tree, shrub, perennial, etc.) and some chacteristics (fragrant, native, medicinal, etc.). Some folks track where they are at in their beds (shade garden, south bed, etc.) The beauty is you can assign more than one category to each plant, to manage your list in ways that make sense to you. I really like this feature.

Rather than categorizing your plants by genus (e.g., hosta), why not just use the build-in sorter that allows you to 'view' just your hostas? Seems like a duplication to create a category for hosta. But, whatever makes sense to you.
