Hi everyone,

Put a new plant outside yesterday , (hardening off Dixie Blues) to get some natural daylight before what I thought would be an hour long hospital appointment but turned out to be much longer. Not really thinking clearly when I got home and just asked OH to put it under the grow lamp in the cellar overnight but forgot to tell him to check/change the timer.

Just realised this morning so plant has had 24 hours in continuous light. Turned it off now to give some dark/rest. How long should I give it in the dark and will it be okay?

Thinking about putting it outside again tomorrow, will that be okay?

The extended light won't bother it for one day. I took care of a friend's seedlings last year when she was away for four days. They were under lights without timers. She wanted the lights left on the whole time. The plants seemed fine and some were tomato plants which she gave me later in the season. They were nice, healthy plants.

I would only give it a short dark period, then go back to your usual schedule and don't worry, it will be fine. I hope your appointment went ok Group hug

Hi Valerie,

Thanks for that. Some unforseen complications with the procedure (they had a cancellation so did the angiogram yesterday as well) so very sore and bruised now but all the heart tests came back normal which is really all that matters.🤗

Thanks for the advice on Dixie Blues, too, will put the lights back on again this evening for a few hours then get OH to put her out during the day as normal tomorrow. Thank You!
