Over the past few years -- and especially since I became a member of this site -- I've seen thousands of truly gorgeous daylilies. But this one literally took my breath away.

I know that taste is subjective, but that hasn't happened to me since I saw Undefinable.

And that is the beauty of Daylilies!

They both are quite stunning!

Spiders and UF's sucked me in to the vortex that is this crazy world of daylilies. The first one that really took my breath away is this one.....



What drew me in to 'Helix', is the stark color contrast of the bloom itself, and what really brings it home, is a similar color contrast between the top and the underside of the sepals, that is revealed by it's UF twisting and curling!

'Helix' will always be #1 on my favorites list!

Yes, I confess that's how I responded the first time I saw a picture of SHARYN LIANNE!

The first one that took my breath away was 'Cat Ballou'. There may be many more out there similar, but I was new to daylilies at the time and this one really intrigued me.

The one that took my breath away was Cabernet Caberet, hybridized by Margo Reed:


Actually, the black-red flower color became somewhat of an obsession for me so I made a new garden built mostly around this color, contrasted with yellow-green flowers. This will be the first summer for blooms in this garden.

You might think that a black-red flower would be drab, but Cabernet Cabaret just glows! Perhaps some of you daylily experts (which I am not!) could explain why it glows.

I've seen some that one day made me gasp and another day made me frown.

There are probably a lot that have made me gasp--but right now I will list two-- Crintonic Painted Desert, and Blue Viper. Understand, I have only seen pictures, so if they were growing here, they might look very different.

Purple Leopard is very unusual for sure.
@Betja, Betty I procured multiple Sharyn Lianne seeds on the LA . Love this one.
I agree with Fred. All are great looking daylilies.
Ram and my Faulkner seedling X Rose F. Kennedy seedling did it for me among others.

This one is one I have coming in spring and made me drool as soon as Charlie on the Over the Porch Swing posted a picture:

That's why I fell in love with it! Absolutely stunning and it's perfect for my Prayer Garden. Karol Emmerich has another one, 2018 introduction, Power of Prayer, that I have on order from her (her picture) that I absolutely drooled over when I saw it

'Cabernet Caberet' is simply stunning, and it's now on my want list! Solid, or near solid, black reds and purples are a true favorite of mine, as well! I have a couple coming this Spring! They possess a luxurious velvety quality that casts a mesmerizing spell!
