Searching database high and low for this. Is this the proper name and not listed yet or is it under another name? Thank You!

Gorgeous photo! The name isn't listed in any taxonomic database. According to The Plant List, however, there once was a Nelumbo caspica, which is now a synonym for Nelumbo nucifera. I think you should post your photo in the Nelumbo nucifera entry, but type the longer name on the caption line in case N. nucifera is split into subcategories in the future.

Might be an old name? Don't know if any of this will help, but here is what I found this morning.

There is an old botanical print found in a book from the mid-1800s - Edwards's Botanical Register.

Nelumbium caspicum is listed as the name.

I have not read the entire text but it says that the drawing shows..."true distinction between Caspian and Indian Nelumbia...".

This shows a drawing and describes the botanical register I just mentioned.

An older publication from 1831 - "...native at the mouth of the river Volga...":

The species of the Nelumbium genus were reclassfied as Nelumbo species some time ago. They also changed gender at that time. The descriptive words of the Nelumbo genus have a feminine ending (a) in the Latin name, while those of the Nelumbium genus were neuter (um). The name "Nelumbo nucifera var. caspicum" has an uncharacteristic mix of the two and seems suspect.

Thanks everyone. Would it be correct then just to accept nucifera only as my plant?
