I had bronze fennel for a couple years, maybe 3? This year both of them died, realllly dead. I'm wondering if this is a biennial? I'm so disappointed because I thought it would always be there, and I am really missing it now.

Mine always returned. I finally dug it up because it took up too much space. Let it remain and it may give you an unexpected happy surprise.

Then it definitely won't return. Buy a packet of seeds and you'll have it again.

I find that bronze fennel reseeds itself, sometimes in the same spot, other times it pops up unexpectedly somewhere else. I have also had them simply die on me after 2-3 years. So, maybe let some purposely go to seed every year. I currently don't have any in my actual herb garden, but one is growing in my chicken yard, where I often toss my weed bucket. The birds are leaving it alone, so I'll nab some seeds this fall and sprinkle them back where they belong.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Mine only lasted about 3 years too. I used to find seedlings around but must have weeded them out at some point.

Me too. It only has lasted a couple of years in the past but I do have a steady supply.
