I'm a plant tag researcher assigned to describe the Salvia cultivar 'Nectar Blue'. The only reference to it that I can find is in a Sunset article that doesn't describe it. Anybody ever heard of this cultivar? Thanks.

I haven't either.
There is a Hyssop cultivar called Hyssopus officinalis 'Nectar Blue'.
Perhaps someone got them confused.
Either that or it's a new variety that hasn't been released yet. In the latter case, you would need to contact the breeder for more information.

Thanks, all. I do think it might be a new cultivar, so we'll see whether Sunset responds, as it's purportedly in their collection.

I just noticed that "Nectar Blue" is a new trademark named tacked onto Salvia guaranitica 'Black and Bloom'.
