I've been unable to properly tag landscape images that I add - the tags always seem to move. What am I doing wrong?

You are not alone. I couldn't do it and others have also had problems. There's been a discussion about this issue in the Site Talk forum. I haven't looked at it the last few weeks, but I don't recall there being a resolution.

Unfortunately this is a known issue. As tx_flower_child mentioned, there have been several threads about it in the Site Talk forum:

The thread "Landscape Photos" in Site Talk forum
The thread "Landscape photos" in Site Talk forum

Some users are able to use the feature, whilst others aren't. As yet it is still unresolved.

Thank you - I had read something about it, but didn't know if it was still unresolved. I appreciate the update.

You're welcome.

If you're interested in pursuing it further, send @dave a treemail with your browser and operating system details. That may help him narrow down what systems have difficulty with the system.

I used to be able to tag landscape photos, but now cannot. No particular change to my system. I just gave up, as I don't think an untagged landscape photo adds anything to the database. I hope this is on the drawing board, but have no idea how things are prioritized. I use a PC, Windows 10, Firefox. Some tags work OK, others throw themselves to the left margin. Frustrating.

I've noticed a lot of untagged photos recently. I agree those are pretty to look at but pretty worthless. I want to know what the plants are! Some are just putting the plant ID's in the comments and that is helpful, but I'd like to see the tagging work well.

I really think this recent abundance of untagged and in many cases single plant pictures has to do with earning acorns whenever there's an NARR. And that's unfortunate. Dave and gang work so hard to keep this site going on so many levels and then rewarding us with wonderful prizes in the NARRs.

It really boggles my mind that someone could post a picture of one solitary plant and consider it to be a landscape.

Unable to tag images, tried several times using a MacBook Pro macOS High Sierra version10.13.5 via Safari.

Found if I used Firefox, I was able to tag the plants!

I have a MacBookPro OSX El Capitan version 10.11.06

I use browsers Firefox (59.0.1) and I have no problem adding tags to landscape photos.

I often use Chrome (66.0.3359.181) as well but can't recall if I've ever uploaded or tagged landscape photos using that browser.

I've only tried once and @zuzu had to bail me out. I don't remember if the system would let me delete what I started. I'd like to try another one if I know that I can back out of it before it's posted. (I can get trigger happy with the 'enter key' or 'mouse click'.)

I'm using an iMac running OS version 10.13.5. (This updated last night. It had been 10.13.4.)
The browser I use is Safari version 11.1.1.

I have Firefox but haven't used it in ages. Will have to update it if Safari isn't going to cooperate.

Has anyone had any luck using Safari to tag landscapes?

Just wanted to provide an answer to something I had asked in case anyone else might want to know.

A few or more days ago I tried to add a landscape. This time I got further than before. But it still wasn't right. And yet my only options were to post it or to keep working on it. (indirect quotes). So I went ahead and posted. Of course it displayed and without tags.

However, I found that once it posted I was able to go in and totally delete it. Not as good as backing out before posting, but at least the picture could be deleted.

Now to try Firefox and see if that will work for me.

Dave - I was getting an error message saying something to the effect that the tagged areas were overlapping.

I use Firefox and was able to tag a picture on Landscapes today (6/16). The hard part was remembering the name of the plant I was tagging (crape myrtle) and I had to look it up somewhere to find the name. Sighing!

I'm trying to reacquaint myself with Fire Fox. Installed it many years ago and then didn't use it. So now it's driving me crazier than I already am. I'll read a 1 page 'help' screen which ends by asking me if I found it helpful. I don't answer because if I say 'no', I might have to explain myself. Mostly it's terminology that confuses me.

Ingrid — after my first failed attempt to add a landscape picture it occurred to me that it would be handy to grab some scratch paper to write down the name of the plants. And then it was kinda cool that I didn't have to type the whole name because the system came up with a list of probable suspects. Just scrolled thru the list and clicked on the correct one. That was the only part of the process that worked.

I use Firefox on a Windows 10 that was unable to update that big "upgrade" a couple of months ago because of a printer that I've got and can't seem to download a new driver for. I have been able to tag one plant in a photo (and maybe two?) but when I tag another, it gives that overlapping tag terminology and doesn't let me undo. I haven't tried to go back in (though I may have done so the first time I tried? - don't remember) to edit. I do remember being able to delete a landscape after posting, but that defeated the purpose, and wasn't able to tag properly the second upload, either.

I know. It's annoying, isn't it?
