Our nootka roses are in bloom. Although they are not as flashy as the fancy rose hybrids, they have a stronger scent.

Very pretty. I just moved a huge but unproductive tree peony, and think I'll use nootka roses to replace. How big do these get? I'm thinking I may have room for 2-3 shrubs. I'm trying to slowly introduce natives to my cultivated beds.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Thank you, Deb! They grow to around 6-8' tall, and spread vigorously. I need to cut new shoots to keep it from taking over.

@Lauribob, do you have some I can snatch? I've looked out back and can't find any. I hate to buy them when I know they grow pretty freely (we had a ton on our Okanogan property). Might be more of an east side plant?
