Thread OP

Hi, I would like to send a friend living overseas a little surprise of some grape cuttings since she can't get them where she is. Unfortunately, the seller is only willing to send within the US, and I don't live there either.

Though it isn't not confirmed yet, I would like to ask if anyone is willing to lend me their address to receive some cuttings, then send it again to my friend?

If it is possible it would be great to be able to discuss the delivery method, land, air, fast, slow, etc. and of course I will bear the cost of the sending.

Thanks!
Thank You! Smiling

Hi Maddie and welcome to NGA.

What you are asking is essentially illegal and I doubt anyone will 'lend' you their address. Different countries have different agricultural laws because of possible disease and pests and require Phytosanitary Certificates. If your USA seller won't send international, it probably means their plants are not Phytosanitary certified.

I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database! Plant Identifier
I think by the time they went to one person and then another overseas, the cuttings would likely be dead. That is too long in the mail I think. They will die.

Hi Xeramtheum!

I see, wasn't expecting it to be illegal... *Blush*

By the way, do you know how can a phytosanitary certificate be obtained for plants being shipped to you? Or can you only obtain one for plants you actually have on hand?

I see... ok!

Thanks

Hi Frillylily,

Oh.. I see... Sighing!

I used to think dormant cuttings could last a log time in shipping. Sticking tongue out

Thank You!

Maddie the certifications differ from country to country. Here is link that goes into detail about it?

MaddieMclauren,
The best thing would be to keep looking until you find a different seller, one that is willing and legally authorized to mail the grape cuttings to your friend.

Since you did not say in which country your friend resides, I cannot research any further.

There are people on this website from all over the world. Next time just tell us what country your friend lives in and we can try to find someone in that country who will share or sell the plant you're looking for.
