I planted Whatchamacallit about 3 weeks or so that I got from down south. Its listed on AHS and here in this database as being diurnal, so why is mine opening now? This is the second bloom that has opened nocturnally. I can understand bloom times being off a bit when coming up from the South, but this is a little nutty. Has anyone else noticed this?

You planted it three weeks ago?
Please consider the stress and trauma experienced by the plant by having been dug up/unpotted, possibly divided, strenuously cleaned, shipped and in transit for a few days, and then replanted in a totally new environment with different weather, new soil, new/different nutrients, etc.
Good grief! It's still recovering from what it went through to get to you as well as making new roots and trying to get established. As long as you can confirm that it's the correct cultivar, don't worry about any bloom until next season or even the season after that.

Ok, a diurnal plant is registered as being one that opens in early morning or during the day. My question is how early in the morning are you getting out there to see the bloom on this plant open? Is early morning considered to be sunup? Maybe being the plant is from down south is just a little confused about the new schedule the sun and moon are on it is new location?

Both times it began opening around 4:30 in the afternoon. I understand the stress of being shipped etc, and I have several mid-seasons from down south that are scaping now which is understandable considering they would be in peak season in June down in Tn which for this year makes them all a month early for me. I also understand that they will adjust to the new time next year. I was also mistaken about what AHS database says. It does not list it as either a diurnal or a noctournal. Its only in this database that lists it as a nocturnal.

Ahh...maybe others that grow it can comment on when their plant opens its blooms.

I would expect a plant's diurnal/nocturnal habit to be fairly hard-wired in.

It's almost a given that bloom season will be affected by shipping though. Due to some shipping delays I planted Heavenly Queen of Sheba fairly late in the spring of 2016. I thought it was going to skip a year, but finally a scape emerged late in September; with FFO on November 11.



Last year, it bloomed very late as well, FFO in late September. This year it finally straightened itself around to its registered Early-midseason; it opened its third bloom today.
