Still relatively to the daylily addiction, I'm curious to know who you believe to be the best known (living/active) hybridizers and whether or not they are also sellers. Maybe that's an oxymoron, cuz who would create a hybrid if not to sell it? (Me, for one, but that's another matter.)

Dave, I'm not sure that any one person qualifies as the best. Too many variables. Best spider breeder, best breeders for eyes or patterns, best mini breeder, best for southern garden or northern gardens. You name it, there's probably a breeder for it. And I think most of the breeders also sell- there are some folks who breed for themselves or just to register cultivars for sentimental purposes.

I agree with Diana. So many variables. I live up North & lots of breeders live south of me. I love the flowers they produce but most won't survive in my garden. So I wouldn't say they were the best to me. I'd have to pick a Northern breeder but the flowers may not be as spectacular to many people.
