Some of my echinacea seedlings are blooming for the first time today.
Two years ago I collected seeds from my Echinacea paradoxa - a tall hardy yellow blooming echinacea. I had heard they didn't self pollinate very well and needed other seed grown plants nearby to set seed. I didn't have any other paradoxa plants, but there were a lot of Echinacea Cheyenne mix nearby with red and orange blooms. Apparently they cross pollinated. The paradoxa seedlings are all blooming various shades of orange from orange yellow to almost red. I am thrilled and hope these new plants do as well as their parents.
Here are two pictures of a few of my paradoxa seedlings and one of the original yellow Echinacea paradoxa.
