I found an image and data of a plant in the wrong place while looking for an image of a specific plant in the plant database. When I looked at proposals there was a message that said "this is for moderators only." How does one go about reporting an image of one kind of plant placed incorrectly?

If you know what the plant is, you can propose moving it to the correct plant.

If you do not know what the plant is, just that it is in the wrong place, you can start a discussion about the pic to question the ID.

Thank You! I maybe wrong about my observations, but there are 2 plants seemingly placed in the wrong database merely because their nickname or color includes a part of the name of the plant database In which they are currently in. Is that a common practice? Shrug! Confused if so, I don't want to offend anyone by starting a thread if it is supposed to be there. Is this a good reason to start a thread?

Absolutely, please do. Nobody could know everything about plants, many are purchased with wrong labels, "they" are renaming plants every day, and mistakes are simply part of the human condition (as is fixing them later whenever possible.)

I often follow threads that question an ID. I find them interesting and educational. I've never seen anyone take offense. I 'lost' on one that I'm fairly certain was a sport but it didn't hurt my feelings and I just had the photo deleted from this database but kept it on my own computer. I 'prevailed' on another by doing some research and finding the plant in question had a couple of strains with distinct differences in appearance. I felt I 'won' on both discussions by learning a bit more about each plant.

Okay, I listened to you all and appreciate your insights. Here are the proposals from me, a novice. Shrug!
I was looking in the phlox database for images and info on a new hybrid annual phlox I bought called "Blueberry Intensia". I was pleased to find the entry and learn that I will be able to place the first image of it on the database. nodding Hurray! However, while looking at all the phlox I came across 2 plants that I questioned being there: Confused Bush Penstemone and an Iris "Pink Phlox".
I propose moving them respectively to the Penstemone and Iris database. : Thank You! in advance for your advice. I am taking the first step to a learning opportunity. Thumbs up I'm all ears!

Oops, I forgot to say why I think they are out of place as adviced previously. Rolling my eyes. I think the Penstemone may have a characteristic appearance in the bloom that resembles minutely a phlox, but is a Penstemone, not a phlox.

I think the Iris just has the name Pink Phlox as its variety due to its color, but it is truly an Iris. Thank You!

Arilbred Iris, Phlox Pink, is the entry's name in the phlox database, to be more exact. And the Bush Penstemone, in the phlox database, Confused has a nick name of Phlox Penstemone in the Penstemone Database.

Neither of these is in the Phlox database. Iris 'Pink Phlox' is in the Iris database. There's nothing called "bush penstemone" in our database. There are several entries with Bush Penstemon as their common names, but all of them are Penstemon or Keckiella entries and are not in the Phlox database. They may have come up in your search results, but that doesn't mean they're in the Phlox database.

Here's the home page of the Phlox Database:

The Phloxes Database

You will not find any irises or penstemons in it.

Doing a search with the word Phlox brings up anything with that word in it, common names and cultivar names.

@Samlav, common names really do cause confusion; sometimes a single plant can have multiple common names and unrelated plants in entirely different families can have the same common names! Blinking Until one gets used to the difference between common names, scientific names, cultivar names, it etc. it can make you crazy. Green Grin! For instance, Keckiella and Penstemon are different genera of plants and yet they both have the same Common Name of "Bush Penstemon."

As zuzu mentioned in her post:

'Phlox Pink is the Cultivar Name for this particular Iris: Arilbred Iris (Iris 'Phlox Pink')
Genus: Iris
Cultivar Name: 'Phlox Pink'

"Bush Penstemon" is the Common Name for these two Genera:
Bush Penstemon (Keckiella cordifolia)
Bush Penstemon (Keckiella antirrhinoides)
Bush Penstemon (Penstemon ambiguus)
Bush Penstemon (Penstemon fruticosus)

An example: Shrubby Penstemon (Penstemon fruticosus 'Purple Haze'):
Common Names: "Shrubby Penstemon", "Pride of the Mountain", "Bush Penstemon"
Genus: Penstemon
Species: fruticosus
Cultivar Name: 'Purple Haze'

Oh my! I sure learned a lot with that question! First, I thought I was in the phlox database and I was not. D'Oh! I learned it is called "Phloxes". Hmmm, I thought "phlox" was already in the plural form, so that was also a lesson. That was my first mistake and a big one. Crying Let's add to the fact that when I typed in "Phlox" I did not realize that any plant with the word "phlox" will come up! D'Oh! Then I learned my confusion was multiplied by the fact common names can be the same for plants in different genera. I learned the plural for "genus" is "genera". All this started from wanting to earn an acorn by placing an image of Phlox, Intensia Blueberry (genus: Phlox, cultivar Intensia Blueberry,) in the plant database. Well, From that I learned if you enter the first image of a plant, you get 2 acorns. Surprise! Hurray! Alls well that ends well! Thank You!

Awesome!

If you were searching the database for Phlox and wanted to only see plants of the genus, Phlox, you could click "view all plants in the genus Phlox"
