Discussion on this photo thread: The thread ""Stem, scape, stalk or bark"" in Photo of Mexican Giant Cardon (Pachycereus pringlei)

Is it possible to have the database photo category for "Thorns", changed to read: Thorns, Spines, Teeth, Prickles ???

Thank you Lin for starting this thread. I would like to add that it should go beyond the photo category and also include actual database entries. As far as I can tell all cacti entries now come labeled as 'thorned' which is incorrect. I know that Lin knows this, but in case others do not: spines and thorns are distinctly different not just in appearance but also how they form and what part of the plant they actually derive from.

I think this website and organization is serious enough about adding plants to and information entry for the database that they should want to get this right as well. Should not be that hard to add an option to say a plant has spines in addition to the 'thorned' option.

Yes, presumably teeth and prickles would be bundled under that Miscellaneous category as well. Perhaps

"With thorns/spines/prickles/teeth"

I agree that the name of the photo gallery and the name of the data checkbox in the Miscellaneous block should be changed. @dave, do you agree?
