I know. Sorry. It was a plumeria car accident. A car hit the plumeria. A car accident to a plumeria. I tried not to illicit panic by not using caps and not putting it in an All About Gardening thread. Bad thinking on my part I guess. I can't edit the title.
I have successfully taped branches together. Once I taped one together and it grew aerial roots after which I cut it completely free and planted it. It is successfully growing in my neighbor's yard. But it all depends on how badly the branch is broken if and how well it takes. But yes, I will start the cutting after it callouses. Not only is this a pretty, long-lasting flower, but the tree blooms all summer on multiple branches. In fact, the broken branch has the most recent inflo, which will be cut off.
The tree is currently badly misshapen from preparations made to move it in the car from California to Florida, my DD's new home. Since February, she slowly bent the branches to make it more compact for their April move. But she left it behind in TX during her visit opting for more important cargo. They will return at end of August to retrieve it. She insists the 4 ft tree remain in the original 8" pot 1) to keep it from growing into a full blown tree this summer. And 2) to help with transplanting in FL. I have the 8" root bound pot buried into a larger pot with more soil. But the plant still falls over as it is quite misshapen. And the car accident taking down another branch didn't help that much. I am sure once it gets to it's new home, bungee cords released, it will grow, spread out, and look beautiful again.
