I have trouble shutting down my brain. I do enjoy cross words, Scrabble, word games and number games but they keep my mind alert. I am not a video game fan or other electronic games. My new crochet/amigurumi project relaxes my mind but it hurts my hands and I am limited to how much I can do at one sitting. Adult Coloring Books overwhelm me. I don't know where to begin on the intricate patterns. But sometimes, I just want to shut down! Old Fashion Adult Dot-to-Dot books are wonderfully relaxing, mindless activity with no purpose except for that! I add shading and ink highlights to the renderings and move on to the next puzzle.

Hi Cheryl,
I just saw this posting of yours. Where did you find these adult dot to dot books? It looks very interesting and something like what I also need to help shut down my brain at times.

Hi Jeanne, @gardenglassgems. I found them at Barnes and Noble. These are not your childhood puzzles. Some of them in this book go up to 400+ numbers. They offer beautiful books with detailed photos on various subjects, too. One book is of the constellations and a white or silver marker is recommended on the dark blue black pages. But yes, by simply looking for numbers shuts my mind down. I don't have to decide on colors or make any decisions. It's been wonderful!

@ShadyGreenThumb I don't do video games, either and have the same problem shutting down my mind. I find that beading helps me calm down, even though I sometimes have problems untangling knots. I will have to look for these books also. Thanks for posting this.

I just went to Amazon. They have these books! How cool! Never heard of them.

I fuss with my veggies in the 6 packs to try to calm my mind down. The veggies don't exactly appreciate the fussing!
I'll be glad to plant them outside when it cools off. Right now they go outside at 7:30 and come back inside about 8:30.
