The base of my cardinal flowers turn white and then the whole plant bends in half and dies.
Could you tell me what is causing this?

How big are they? In pots or in the ground? Can you post a photo or two of what's happening?

Here are a couple of pictures. The plants are outside in the ground; right now only about 2 feet tall. You can see the white on the stem, and the leaves are dying.
