I fell in love with bog Mosaic Plant yesterday. It was being rooted and not for sale. I want some! There are some available online. Does anyone have experience with this plant?

I have grown it. It can be a little hard to find, especially late in the season. Another one that is very similar and actually sturdier and easier to grow is Trappa Bicornis. You can get the seeds at Asian supermarkets in the fall. It looks sort of like a bat or buffalo head. (I realize bats and buffalos look nothing alike. Google it to see a picture.) Keep the seeds in the vegetable drawer of the fridge over the winter, and plant in a 1/2 gallon
nursery pot of regular garden soil, top with a little sand in spring. Put it somewhere to germinate that it won't be disturbed...in water, of course. It will germinate in about a week and at first looks like a wide blade of grass. It will soon bend and start the mosaic pattern.

Here is a picture. I see they are selling them on etsy. They can be hard to find at the Asian supermarkets, to get them in the short window of time that they are available, so good to know there is another source.

Cool! @Marilyn They look like mustaches to me. Rolling on the floor laughing I found Mosaic plant 8 weeks later when I returned to the nursery. They were rooted by then. I bought all 3. She seemed disappointed that I bought all of them? Confused But they were in the "sale" area not their "Rooting" area so... Shrug! They are small and will be a challenge to keep growing in the winter as they are fully tropical. I will invest in a 10 gallon tank and house them there with am aquarium water heater, and a hood with a grow light in it.

I bought the mosaic plant locally it is actually blooming now has cute little yellow flowers but I didn;t take a pic this is without flowers. Its supposed to be hardy here but I may move it into the greenhouse pond to overwinter. I grow it in a container garden it was $5

OH! @Gina1960 ! That is so awesome!! Out of my three. 2 were decimated by the $##@! Raccoons. I have hope for one. It is still rooted. But the plant is small, got cut off from the plant, and just floating around in the pond. Grumbling

Since they like warm waters, I was going to set up an aquarium with a heater for winter. I suppose I don't have to do that now?

I would think of taking it in (or saving a piece) overwinter just for insurance
