Just wanted to share some pics of this remarkable perennial. Mine is at least 10 feet tall and buzzing with bees.

I only had one, now there's about 5 or 6 stems. They seem to multiply nicely without taking over.

cool. we cut down some trees, invasive siberain elm that were shading the plot to much. so now most of it has tree rubble on it that will have to be charted off once the warmer temps arrive in the spring.

registration is in February to get the plot back and they don't till it unless you request it.

i will also need to buy an 8 to 7 foot fence to keep deer out as they are a lot of deer in the area..

Your cup plant is way ahead of mine. I just have a few little red buds. I'll post a pic when they get a bit bigger.

Cup plants are very dear to me and play a pretty big role in my life as a gardener. At the last house I rented, there were cup plants surrounding the porch. One sunny summer day I stepped out and saw three different species of butterfly and at least two different bee species, including the endangered rusty patched bumblebee, all happily fluttering and buzzing around. It was so beautiful.

Within a week they were chopped down by whatever unqualified hack the landlord paid to do a bare minimum of yard work. Didn't even try to dig them out or anything, just left the hacked off stalks. My front yard, formerly lush and green with lovely yellow flowers and teeming with native insects, was now so much less alive. I think that's the day I decided I could never again live in a place where someone else did the gardening/landscaping.

So sad. Maybe next year (unless they happen to come back), put something around them so the next idiot knows they're wanted. I have to put two very tall trellis type things around mine or in a high wind they start leaning...And they're at least 10 feet tall when they flower.
