Has anyone ever collected mature daylily seeds that are white? I just collected a pod with white seeds from a NOID purple seedling X tet RFK. At first, I thought they were not mature. But the seeds are firm and hard. The pod though small was brown and split before I harvested it.

I just planted the seeds in the ground. Will see if any germinates and grows.

I haven't but I know it happens. Some daylilies are known for producing white seeds, 'Moonlight Orchid' is one. It just means they are missing the black phytomelanin deposit on the outside. There is usually a brown papery layer on the inside of that and underneath it is white.

Wonder if missing the dark coat will allow the seeds to sprout quicker?

I just harvested a pod on Fancy Deal today that has white seeds. I know Siloam Peony Display also gives white seeds that are viable.

Larry, I don't know. I will find out soon enough!

Thanks Elena! It is good to know that they are viable for you! I hope my white seeds will be viable too.
