Don't know why but the elephant ear leaves are much smaller this year than normal.

The ferns are having a good year.

Your Caladiums are still looking very good. Mine start early in the year and start to fade early also. My EE's are much smaller this year than they have been in the past. I feel terrible because I sold a number of E's back in the spring telling the buyers they would get huge. Ooops

I cannot account for why the leaves are so much smaller this year, we had plenty of rain. But we did not have nearly as hot of a summer as usual. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

I am attributing it to our bear of a winter here and the ee's were unprotected in large 20" containers. Although we had freezing temps for a week the soil never froze but it did stay wetter and far colder than it normally would have.

Alice I agree. With 2 unheard of snow storms and colder temps this past winter, my EEs and banana trees were much slower to emerge. Leaves are smaller and the banana trees are about 3 ft shorter than normal.
Mostly what I have blooming are gingers.

The colors on many of these are washed out, too much sun when taking the photos. As always the fragrance is intoxicating. I need a sniffing emoji! Hilarious!

I had more ginger to bloom this year than any other year. One of my banana trees is much smaller this year, the other one the largest it has ever been.

Ipomoea quamoclit. Owning this CL fence gate that's leaning against the back of our carport. That gate is eventually supposed to be "planted" in what's supposed to be our veggie patch. Man, it takes a lot of work to get the yard elements doing what they're supposed to do, ya know? LOL! We have the ambitions of folks in their 30's, but time has delivered us way past that point by now... and jobs that eat up most of ones' time are also the nemesis of the other ambitions.

Ornamental purslane (Portulaca umbraticola) and spider lily (Lycoris radiata.)
Thumb of 2018-09-14/purpleinopp/ef8c68

There are more than 1 of each, but accompanied by too many weeds to memorialize in pics this summer, mostly chamberbitters (Phyllanthus). Please heed my warning, don't ever ignore "just 1 or 2 plants back where I can't reach..." The next year, you'll have too many to pull, all around an alarmingly larger radius.

Beautiful, Larry! I hope my Conf. rose is un-wilted after the rain yesterday afternoon. Maybe it can also bloom now too. It had definitely gotten crispy, brittle, so very dry & I'd given up on trying to water most things that were just going to pout but not actually die. I hope some of the rain came to Enterprise after you posted the pics too!

Aren't those little frogs the cutest?!
