The one I know as 'Black' can go through some interesting color changes by seasons.
This photo was taken in May of 2013.

I'm hoping everyone that has 'Black' can go out in the next day or two and get a photo so we can compare characteristics from the same time of the year. We can still get variations due to climate and other growing conditions. But we should still see similarities.

Here's mine. Last week with the blazing heat, hi's mid 90's, lows's mid 70's it lost all red color. This past weekend we had lots of rain and cooler temps moved in, hi's mid 70's, low's 59-63 and some red is coming back in. Source, Mill Creek Gardens was the wholesaler, I bought it from a local greenhouse, nursery. I still have the grower's tag.

Mine did look like yours a few days ago Angelo. But I dug them all up to move them and get rid of all the bloom stalks. They just got replanted this morning, so the little guy is looking very sad in the color department, and is covered with dirt. I'll do another photo in a couple of weeks.
Oops, forgot to add the photo.

With all of our different weather and soil conditions I would say that these are all the same plant, showing some variations do to growing conditions. We should do this comparison again in a month or two.

I haven't posted my photos of 'Black' from Young's here in this thread, because I posted them in Sempervivum Chat & photos 2018 yesterday. Not going to fuss with it anymore, just going to chalk it up to 2 varieties bought from Youngs this spring ended up being NOIDS, they need better quality control.

Very cool Christie. Won't be long before you will see them changing and getting ready for winter.

I was relieved to know Daniel and famil are way above what is the flood area from the river he lives by. Hurray!
