Has anyone ever tried using a Casio Label It label outdoors? Yesterday I made a few, and have stuck them onto 14" lengths of mini blinds, and then put clear tape over them. I usually either just stand the mini blind upright in the middle of the clump, or thread it horizontally through the base of my clump. But I don't want to waste the time or effort making lots of them, only to discover that they fade badly within a short period of time. Has anyone ever tried them outdoors?
I can't remember the type of label makes I have, but it looks similar to your. Mine works fine outdoors and lasts several years. Usually the mini blind deteriorates before the label. Very occasionally, it slides off the blind, but I think that has only happened a couple of times.
I haven't used that one I tried the dynamo one didn't work. On another forum I am on they all seem to use the P Touch by Brother. (I asked cause I didn't want to keep getting ones that don't work) there is one type tape that they all have used for years and lasts for years. If you are interested I will write it down and let you know.
Yes, Marcia, I would like to know!! I did a few in the fall with mine, just so I could see how they'd hold up. I sure don't want to waste time, and the money for tapes, if they won't last very long. Thanks so much!
Hi Again, They use the P touch labeler with TZ labels don't get the knock offs they fade. Some say have used for 20 yrs and are still good? The tape is on the pricey side. They also like the Kincaid Stainless Steel markers. Many say the zinc do not last and need to be replaced in 3-4 yrs.
Another likes the Avery labels 5520 for outside with a laser printer if you have.
Another uses metal strapping which she cuts and paints with krylon to prevent rust (much cheaper free! if you find)
I have decided to try the labels since I have a laser printer and a daylily program that does labels
you might want to check out ( plantstep.com) reasonable (maybe a present? lol) It certainly is better than my little spreadsheets I had made for myself and does other plants as well and hybridizing. I will be able to do my whole garden. Also going to do a mix of strapping (free) and the kincaid markers. Probably will eventually do all Kincaid unless I see no difference in a few years.
many use blinds cut up also for seedlings so not sure if they can handle full time use.
Hope you find this useful.
