I didn't see Pentas widely sold this spring, but found a red one. It's grown well. Anyone tried rooting pieces, or keeping cuttings over winter? I don't think it will live here in zone 7 over winter.
Or does it have a chance if I move it to a zone 8 ish warm sunny bed for winter?
I'll probably try both.
Plant it and they will come.

I pot up the large plants and put them in the attached garage. There is a window so they get some light. It can get really cold in there, near freezing, but doesn't fall below freezing. It's a really easy way to overwinter them if you have a similar garage or cool basement. They will look shabby after winter storage but they can be pruned back in spring.

I know I'm in FL zone 9b, but have a lot of pentas in ground and in containers. They survive temps as low as 30 with little or no damage so pretty cold hardy. If they do freeze down some, we have had several hours in the upper 20's, they come back, with a bit of pruning. I've never tried rooting them before, but worth a try. If it is in a container, moving to a protected area good, but if in the ground, toss a cover over it when freezing temps.
