Hello everyone. I've been lurking on garden.org for quite some time, but I'm otherwise new to the forum. I live in the Ozarks region of northwestern Arkansas, and have an approximately 1,000 sq. foot vegetable garden space (though spread out to 3 different gardens) and a flock of backyard chickens on our acre of property. I've myself only been gardening 2 years now, going on 3, but my family has a history of gardening dating back- forever...? We have a moderate growing season here, generally lasting from May through mid Oct., when the first fall frost arrives. It gets hot in the summer, temperatures averaging 80's to mid 90's after the summer solstice, but it's not near as bad as other areas of the country. Winters are z6 here, sometimes colder, sometimes warmer.

I look forward to reading through the forums a bit more. There's a lot of information to be found!!
