I was surprised to see this Male Rose Breasted Grosbeak at my feeder today! I think the Cardinal is a little shocked too!

it doesn't ever work very well to get backlit birds, but he was squawking so loudly at me I took his picture anyway, and fed him

A Eurasian Tree Sparrow! You must live in that area of Illinois that has them. I've been keeping an eye out for them since I heard they sometimes are seen in northeastern Illinois too. They were introduced to the US not long after the house sparrow was, but seemingly never took off or became problematic like house sparrows did. I think they are basically just in that one area near of Illinois and just a bit over the Mississippi River to the west. Love the titmouse picture too, I've never seen one at home.

Today I had a first. My first bald eagle seen in many many years and the first ever for me in Illinois, and I saw it from my kitchen window! It was riding the thermals way high up along with a red-tailed hawk. So high that I couldn't even tell what it was without the binoculars. I actually got a photo too, it's a horrible photo being that far away and through a window, but good enough for a record. Last time I saw one was over 20 years ago when I was in Canada, so this was a treat for me.

That photo of the eagle looks pretty good, considering how high it was! You can certainly tell what it is. Thumbs up

Yesterday I saw a jay in a serious chase with a red belly sap sucker.
I wish I had a pic. Somebody was mad at something. Any guesses? They are about the same size but the Jay was much more agile. That sap sucker has poked so many holes in my pine tree it looks like it has a case of measles .

Be careful what you wish for. I think they're just as bad as the house sparrow around my feeders!

Yes Joanna. He was on the grass in my garden but when I went for the camera he flew to a tree.
