I have several of these plants and I thought I would share some photos. Please share your Stonecrop photos as well.

One of the most common is Hylotelephium spectabile 'Herbstfreude' where herbstfreude is German for autumn joy. So, most of these plants that are sold in the US are labelled Sedum spectabile 'Autumn Joy' or simply Autumn Joy sedum.

Note that this plant was moved from genus Sedum to Hylotelephium. However, most people still use Sedum when describing this plant.

The common name stonecrop refers to growing in the wild on rocks or stony ledges. And, you would be correct in thinking that this plant does well in rock gardens.

I also think they offer reasonable winter interest.

Beautiful! There are so many other great cultivars, but 'AJ' gets almost all of the attention.

Gorgeous fall landscape, Frank! I was never 'into' sedum too much until this last year. Just getting a start with that.
