Hi,
1) Cloudflare is the service Dave (Site Admin) uses to protect the website from attacks. You will be seeing it intermittently at the moment because the site has been under attack and Cloudflare is checking that your browser/computer isn't part of the attack.
2) It is not a virus.
3) You don't need to get rid of it.
If you are trying to make a forum post and you see the Cloudflare message when you click submit, your post may be lost. Just click the back button in your browser - usually it will remember your post and allow you to resubmit it.
Hope that helps clarify! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Correct - it's not going to harm your PC or steal your data/files. I suspect it is looking for particular scripts being run in the browser and probably won't log anything other than your IP address (the address of your computer on the Internet) and your browser's identity (i.e. Firefox 63 on Windows 7, for example), which is something any site can do.

Thanks for the info. I was curious also, and thought it was something like this.. Incidentally, my public library (my workplace, and 16 locations, over 200 public and staff computers) had a virus attack in September, It's been a nightmare ++
and we still aren't fully restored.
