What if a photo was added to the Plants Database with a watermark and now the photographer (me, for example) wants to submit said photo to the contest?

I often delete pictures from my cellphone to save space and also because I know I can always see them again in the Plants Database.

Is there a way to remove the watermark or am I out of luck? Or does this question not make sense?

No, there's no way to remove the watermark.

Ok, thanks for answering.

So now I'm going back and forth to see which pictures I've previously posted in the database or a forum yet still remain in their virgin state on my phone or desktop. Of course it's not as if I have shot tons of stunning photographs. Just checking. 😶

Can you crop the watermark out?

Don't think so. But I've never downloaded one of my pictures (or anyone else's pictures) from NGA.

If you use your own editing program to crop, yes you can.

I'm now going to disprove the saying that there are no dumb questions.

How can I download one of my pictures that I've posted here? When I tried, it downloaded as a pdf.

I guess I could try chopping off the watermark and then uploading it back as a jpg. Is there a better way?

It depends on the os and software you have available to you. If you have an Apple phone, iPad or computer you should be able to copy the photo to you photos file. If you have any other system you might be able to crop without it, but I'm thinking you might need Adobe. Shrug! Sorry it's been a loooooong time since I had anything other than a Mac.

Yes, I have a Mac and an iphone, both having up to date software. So how do I copy? Not do a 'save as' or do I?

Try, right-clicking on the pic it should offer you the ability to select "copy". If not try highlighting the pic and select copy or command C.

On my iPhone 8+, I click and hold on the pic, swipe up with it still held and it offers me the option to save img.

On my iPad Air I click and hold it opens options to save img.

Thanks. I'll give it another go. I did get it to copy but then it wanted to become a pdf.

Will try with one of my less than stellar pictures.

EDITED:

Ta da! Download worked! Thanks for the help.
