I first saw a wild gentian about 45 years ago, in Conn. by the roadside, and was captivated by it. My local garden shop had a gentian (this one ?) so I bought one at the end of summer, then promptly moved and had to leave it behind. So I'm delighted to see what it might have looked like. Beautiful and true blue! The other true blue plant I yearn for is the meconopsis poppy (Himalayan?) but I live in Vermont and there's no hope of getting one through the winter. The Chelsea Flower Show in London, about 5 or 6 years ago, had a full corner planting of them--about 6 by 6 feet--stunning, so maybe I'll have to move to G.B.! Thanks for posting this. As an addicted gardener who has recently moved to a condo with limited gardening possibilites, I devour every photo posted.
