Here's the pic I took right after the previous one.

I haven't had those coneflowers for a long time, as I started to plant other things in that bed, but I'm thinking about adding more Magnus coneflowers in this back yard bed, since it's very close to where my birdfeeders are and the Goldfinches that feed on the "thistle" socks I hang. They love coneflowers. I have more Magnus (and other coneflowers) in the front flowerbed. I look out our front window and always see them happily feeding on the cones there.

re: Goldfinches .......any pics of them on the coneflowers?
Love those little guys, even though they shred my sunflower leaves,
and make a huge mess with the nyjer seeds. Smiling

Thank you @GaNinFl, @EscondidoCal, @Legalily and @cocoajuno for your nice comments.

Cal, I don't think I took any pics of the Goldfinches feasting on the cones. If I find any in my photo files, I'll post them. Maybe next year I can get some. They would make for a great pic! I'm thinking that by the time the coneflowers go to seed, it's too hot, humid for me to go outside to take pics and in the early fall, I get busy doing things outside.

I wonder why they shred your sunflower leaves. As for the nyjer seeds, they love the 2 thistle socks I hang for them and when they're almost empty, 2 new ones get hung and they're all over them. Sweet little birds.

Thank you @CarolineScott, @GaNinFl, @Legalily and @wildflowers for the thumbs.

Happy y'all like my Magnus Coneflower banner. They're wonderful coneflowers to grow. They won the 1998 PPA Award and that's the year I started growing them in my yard.

Thank you for the sharing the pics Marilyn! So lovely!!! Hurray!

Oh, and I LOVE Goldfiches! I haven't seen them on the coneflowers, but they love my poppies! They peel the pods like oranges when the seeds are ready. I have purposely not grown yellow flowers during that time of the year so the finches are the only yellow in the garden. Makes me smile every year.

I've counted up to 14 in one area of the garden. (I can't see all the poppies in the gardens from one place...) Think this pic has seven? Too bad they're not in a line, that would make a great banner!

And my apologies for the late reply. Internet went down for 4 days. Angry

@greenappleagnes How about planting the poppies in a row that will give you a good
telephoto shot next year? I hadn't noticed them on our poppies, but will be sure to
look. Smiling

Thank you for the advise Cal! The poppies have naturalized in my garden and come up where they please every year. But I did plant a handful of new varieties in the long border, so maybe... Whistling

Thank you Marilyn! And thank you so much for the acorn!! Hurray!
