I acquired a double fan of Zoe Allegra this Fall and she bloomed a few weeks after transplant in a new raised bed. Only had a few blooms. I think there were 4 total. Beautiful blooms that opened perfect - each one! Loved the bloom colors, not a tall scape but still above the foliage, and seemed to be happy in her new home. But then, about a month after she bloomed, the leaves began turning yellow and I was worried she was dying. After reading James's post, I am encouraged that she requires a dormant/rest period after her bloom show.

James - That is interesting what you wrote about this cultivar looking like you were losing her. I, too, thought when the leaves turned yellow, that the plant was dying. But now I am seeing a little bit of new, green foliage emerging from the middle. My initial thought upon seeing that was to check for dormancy. It is almost like she goes dormant, leaves die, and then she springs to life again. You confirmed what I am seeing. She is an interesting cultivar that just may need time to settle in wherever she is planted. I do love her bloom and colors. Such a pretty bloomer! Glad to know she may multiply nicely, too! Thank you for your thorough evaluation explanation. Thumbs up
