One thing that I did was to notice when seeds in my stash became embarrassingly old, like 2011 or 2012 seeds in 2015/2016.

Then I doubled up the old pkts so each held twice as much seed. The germination rate could go as low as 50% and they would still produce as many plants as the original packet when it was fresh.
