Gerry, you mention that some gardeners think they are too old to grow from seed. I will be 60 very soon and two years ago started my first daylily seeds. Hope to see them bloom next season. If I had thought I was too old then, I wouldn't have this wonderful surprise waiting for me!
This reminds me of the old Chinese proverb, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
