Yeppers Ken. If I buy a "rescue" Phal, as soon as I get it home, I remove the packing and repot in a mix of bark & coir. The packed in moss IS a killer if one leaves the plant in it.
And yes, while many may be in a clear plastic pot (packed in moss) there is often an outer cover or container so the Phal roots are sitting in an inch or 2 of water.
