I found photos of a mature plant which is said to be at least 25cm in diameter (around 10"). You can see the squashed together tubercules. It doesn't show the larger middle spines, although the plants on the cactus-art size do. The forming fruits look about right, maybe a little more squat and with fluffy bits instead of the arc shapes. They do vary.

Eriosyce curvispina is an accepted name, where the varieties are synonyms. In other words, they are considered to be all the same species.
