@DavidLMO - in trying to confirm my information, searched out Google and while your identification as a Heliconia parrot plant probably is correct, I also looked up banana tree bloom and found the photo below identifying this as a banana tree bloom. My original photo is also attached below, and as it was photographed amidst growing bananas I labeled it as such. I could have made a mistake, but will be happy to correct it, and thank for catching that important detail.
