I'm sorry I missed this. Yes, I just crack up the dishes, using just the flat pieces. The rims and cups are too hard to use. They need to lay flat when you glue them. You also need to break the pieces in pretty small pieces in order to fit the curvature of the pot.

I just made one with some of the vintage buttons I have saved from my grandmother and mom. Here it is:
