I grew it for 3 or 4 years and finally left it to freeze. It was a unreliable performer for me, one year spectacular and the next not so much. There is no question that when it is happy it is absolutely spectacular and even at its worst it was something to see. But hummingbirds didn't take much interest in it, and to get a really fine plant it needed to be wintered inside as a large specimen. When I see the dead stems out in the garden I feel sorry that it is gone but also think I was right to leave it behind.
