I planted mine in a corner of the lowest bed. It doesn't receive direct sunlight (perhaps maybe an hour in the morning) but it is light shade. It's damp and wet on its own due to the shade and moist clay soil. I added some gravel and sand before planting so hopefully I see it popping up this spring.
