We had a surprisingly happy New Year's eve. We first went to watch the fireworks with a gathering of friends, which was completely as expected; nice people, noisemakers, silly hats, good snacks. We had then agreed to show up briefly at a party for which a co-worker had invited us. I had not been to their place before. I loved the multigenerational feel of the event (helped by a large house where many different things were happening in various areas) and the easy way in which we were both warmly accepted by a large group of people (50+) of which we only knew one person when we walked in the door. We ended up staying until just after midnight and had a great time with the feeling of having made new friends.
