yes, it should, Gabe. I started, several years ago, "pinning" the rhizomes to the ground, when I plant.........I make a "candy cane" shape , using coat hanger wire ( Rob uses "landscape cloth "staples) and push it into the soil, next to the rhizome, cradling it with the "hook".....it really helps stabilize the rhizome, against being either "blown over", or dug up.
