It is amazing isn't it how quickly things dry up? 
You will find as far as gardening goes the seasons are kind of flipped in the desert. Here we do our spring plants in the fall. Every thing is reversed from what you were used to in Indiana. I grew up in Michigan so had to learn a different way of doing things here.
